چکیده

manuscript as described on the following pages. In the RETINA study, we divided the macular region into the following nine sections: (1) fovea, 2) superior inner macula, 3) nasal inner macula, 4) inferior inner macula, 5) temporal inner macula, 6) superior outer macula, 7) nasal outer macula, 8) inferior outer macula, and 9) temporal outer macula). We found that retinal sensitivity and thickness were correlated in each section, and multiple regression analysis confirmed this result. In the current study, we divided the macular region into three sections: 1) 1×1 mm (4°×4°) (corresponding to the fovea section in the RETINA study), 2) 3×3 mm (10°×10°) (corresponding to the fovea, superior inner, nasal inner, inferior inner, and temporal inner sections), and 3) 6×6 mm (20°×20°) (corresponding to all 9 sections). Then we investigated whether the retinal sensitivity and thickness of these 3 sections differed between patients with SRD and CME. As stated in the Results, we found that visual acuity was lower in the SRD group than in the CME group, whereas retinal sensitivity was not decreased in the SRD group compared with the CME group. We hope that the revised manuscript adequately addresses your concerns and those of the reviewers, and that our manuscript will now be considered acceptable for publication in your excellent journal. ABSTRACT Comment 1: Background: The first line is very long and need to be re-phrased into 2-3 separate sentences. Line 3 should read as co-exist not co-exists Answer: As suggested, we have shortened this sentence (page 2, lines 2-6 from the top). As suggested, " 15 patients with SRD and 38 patients with CME " has been mentioned in the Results and not in the Methods section (page 2, lines 11 and 12 from the top). Comment 3: Results: Please mention P value if possible along with significance to give a more objective value of your observation. Answer: As suggested, P values have been added to the Results section (page 2, lines 5, 6, and 7 from the bottom). Comment 4: Conclusion: Please also mention that 'SRD does not seem to have an effect on macular function on microperimetry' as per your findings. Answer: Thank you for this helpful suggestion. 'SRD does not seem to have an effect on macular function on microperimetry' has been added to the Conclusion section (page 2, lines 1 and 2 from the bottom).

Outcomes of Intravitreal bevacizumab in patients with acute branch retinal vein occlusion

Introduction: The study aimed to evaluate the long-term effects of intravitreal bevacizumab on macular edema and visual acuity in patients with Acute branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO) that had not received any treatment. Methods: 22 patients in first week of BRVO onset that was diagnosed with flurcein angiography were treated with intravitreal injection of 1.25 mg bevacizumab. Macular thicke...

Visual function and serous retinal detachment in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion and macular edema: a case series

BACKGROUND The influence of serous retinal detachment (SRD) on retinal sensitivity in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) and macular edema remains unclear. This is despite the frequent co-existence of SRD and cystoid macular edema (CME) in BRVO patients on optical coherence tomography (OCT) and the fact that CME is the most common form of macular edema secondary to BRVO. We inve...

Baseline subfoveal choroidal thickness as an indicator for bevacizumab outcomes in central retinal vein occlusion

Background: Retinal vein occlusions are one of the most common form of retinal vascular disorders and could lead to vision loss due to macular edema, macular ischemia and sequelae from neovascularization. Anti-venous endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment is the choice strategy of treatment for patients with macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). There is an ...

Serous retinal detachment in patients with macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion.

PURPOSE The aim of the present study was to evaluate visual acuity (VA) and central macular thickness (CMT) to assess the influence of serous retinal detachment (SRD) in eyes with macular edema (ME) secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). METHODS Sixty-one eyes with BRVO from 61 patients with ME were analyzed and divided into two groups according to the spectral domain optical cohe...

Newly recognized serous macular detachment in retinal vascular disease.

Newly Recognized Serous Macular Detachment in Retinal Vascular Disease Serous macular detachment has only recently been recognized to occur in a significant number of eyes with retinal vascular leakage, including diabetic macular edema,1,2 branch retinal vein occlusion,3–5 central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO),6 and hypotony maculopathy.7 These serous retinal detachments associated with retinal...
